kintsukuroi
(2020) series of three
each egg measures roughly 5cm in height and 14cm in circumference
egg shell, acrylic paint
lighting, photography, editing, and objects by cloie hilomen
this series is a meditation of life.

first,
of life as an egg– most of life comes from eggs (or seeds, spores, etc)

second,
through my friend who passed away this year. her family decided to posthumously share a song she wrote of a similar nameshe also shared egg-themed objects with me from time to time!

third,
as physical representations of my life and cycles i've gone through (and will probably go through again)

and fourth,
an energy exchange. these eggshells were from meals i've had, and in receiving their energy, i was able to give it back to them through taking the time and effort of piecing the shells back together using gold paint, much like the japanese practice of kintsugi.
